This is the beginning of your journey!

Updated: Dec 20, 2024

Each of us has a story—a significant life event that transformed us in ways we often cannot fully explain. It's that moment, or perhaps a series of moments, that made us question our identity, our value, our beliefs, or our ability to overcome the numerous challenges life throws our way. Perhaps, like me, you're reflecting on the notion that it's not just one singular event, but rather a multitude of experiences that have shaped who you are today. If that resonates with you, rest assured, you are not alone in this journey of self-discovery and reflection. One undeniable truth I have come to recognise about myself is my remarkable resilience in the face of past experiences, but, later realised that I was putting a bandage over these experiences and not fully understanding the consequences this would have later in life. Unresolved or unprocessed emotions lead to physical and mental health implications as life goes on so I plea with you, do not ignore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I do acknowledge my own strength, which has often manifested in ways I did not

expect. Strength isn't always beneficial or welcomed; there have been times in my life when I felt I shouldn't have had to find such strength, yet circumstances left me with no alternative but to rise to the occasion. There was a particular moment when I thought to myself, surely I'm due for a mental break? It felt like I was caught in a relentless series of challenges over many years, each one testing my limits and resolve. If this sentiment resonates with you, take comfort in knowing that these phases won't last forever; they are merely chapters in the larger narrative of your life.

You possess the inner power to embark on a transformative journey toward becoming the best version of yourself. The beauty of this journey is that you can choose to begin now or start again, regardless of how many attempts you may have made in the past. It's crucial to remember that the number of times you've tried does not diminish your potential for growth. Don't allow the weight of past experiences to discourage you; instead, keep persevering, for every step forward, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction.

Bring awareness to your past; take the time to acknowledge it and accept it for what it is, because the truth is, you cannot change what has already transpired. However, you can work through it, one day at a time, allowing this process to help free you from the emotional restraints that may be holding you back. Document your feelings and experiences; write them down as a means of confronting them directly. This act of writing can serve as a powerful tool for self-reflection and healing, enabling you to communicate your thoughts and emotions in a way that promotes understanding and growth.

Ultimately, you alone possess the power to write your own story. Therefore, do not let the past define who you are; rather, allow it to serve as a guiding force that leads you toward a brighter, more fulfilling future. Embrace the lessons learned, cherish the growth achieved, and step confidently into the next chapter of your life, equipped with the knowledge that you are capable of overcoming any obstacle that stands in your way.

Do your feel your past is holding you back?

  • Yes, I struggle with ways to move forward.

  • No, I have my own strategies and have came a long way.

  • Yes, I could be doing with some advice.

Love, Colleen
